Samantha's Rainbow
Tommy's Stories 01/02/2018
By Samanatha
Recently, a beautiful story was sent through to us by Samantha, who has allowed us to share it in order to give hope to other couples going through the same difficult journey.
This our miracle baby. We were seen by Professor Quenby in Coventry in December 2016. In January 2017, we took part in a trial funded by Tommy’s charity.
I had a biopsy taken of my womb lining and was told to take 12 weeks worth of tablets and at the end, another biopsy. We were one of first to try this and to be honest, we weren't expecting much from it as it was so new and had no findings. At the end of April, we were free to start actively trying.
In June we flew to Greece to relax and enjoy our time together before the stress began...two days after landing back home we got a positive test. All the anxiety and emotions flooded in from our previous 9 miscarriages.
To our amazement our baby grew stronger on each scan! We are currently 33+4 weeks pregnant with a very active and healthy baby boy and that’s all down to Tommy’s charity.
I hope people receive some reassurance from our story, I can’t thank you all enough for the amazing experience and giving us the life changing journey we are about to under go.
We are so in love with our little rainbow.
Why we need the Tommy’s National Miscarriage Centre
Miscarriage is by far the biggest cause of pregnancy loss in the UK, and it’s also the least understood. Too often, women are left without answers. In many cases, they have to endure three miscarriages in a row before any clinical investigation. We want to challenge this. The best chance of changing the situation is through research, so we can give women and their partners the answers, care and help that they need.
