Why we need Pride
Pride Month is celebrated every June, to honour the 1969 Stonewall riots. These were a series of protests by members of the LGBTQ+ community in New York. During the month, we come together to achieve equity for all in the community.
Here at Tommy’s, we know pregnancy and baby loss can be very isolating, with many feeling unable or finding it hard to speak out. For LGBTQ+ families, this isolation can feel even worse if they don't feel included in the conversation.
We want to make sure that all parents, including mums, birthing parents, non-birthing parents, dads and partners feel supported and represented throughout their pregnancy journey.
Our work with LGBT Mummies
We know we're stronger when we work together and build lasting relationships with communities and partners. One example of this is our support of organisations like LGBT Mummies.
LGBT Mummies was set up by mums Laura-Rose and Stacey, who are both bio and non bio parents to their children. The couple went through fertility, loss and varied pregnancy journeys before founding LGBT Mummies. The platform’s sole purpose is to support LGBTQ+ women and birthing people globally on the path to motherhood or parenthood. By working together, we hope to promote inclusivity throughout the pregnancy journey and in support around baby loss.
